Well, holy hot damn!! Its been a minute since I have been on my computer! I have been busy planning trips, having adventures and working full time! Yes, I am indeed working full time!! Gotta make a little money in order to do things. Well Lets get to it, starting with one of the most famous tourist places on the East side of Australia, Byron Bay.

Byron Bay is a located in New South Wales which is only about a two hour drive south form Brisbane. Byron is a big spot for locals and tourists to escape! Now that I have been I can see why! The atmosphere is a little like boho chic. Small local boutiques, cafes and restaurants everywhere. The whole town seems to be an active place, everyone is out and about moving their bodies, wether in the water or on land!

What to do:

Byron Bay really does have it all. Many beautiful hike near by in the Hinterlands, which is all forrest. The beautiful beaches which are great for surfing, swimming, paddle boarding , and even scuba driving!

Lighthouse walk, the iconic lighthouse walk! It is a super easy, family friendly walk. You will see people running (super fit town) and many kids also taking in the scenery. While on the walk you will cross the most Eastern point of Australia, they have a sign so you can't miss it! The lighthouse it self is a standard lighthouse but if you climb it for sunset or sunrise you are in for a magical experience! My friend had taken me to this hidden beach where you needed to hike to it, I have no idea what it is called, apparently its a local treasure and it truly was. once side is grass to beach on. The other side you crawl down some cliffs and we had this whole beach to ourselves! Be sure to pack a picnic and some drinks!

I managed to surf, first time ever!! I was very scared to try it, since I am really not the best swimmer. I was honestly scared of drowning! Which I really think is a legit concern, waves can be huge and take you under at any second (which has since happened). I happened to have a great friend who I met that surfs on the regular, and let me borrow her board and walked me through it. First wave I just stayed laying down on the board next waves I was on my knees. Third waves I stood up!! I was excited and can't wait to keep giving it a go! I mean why not, it's all part of the Australian culture.

So I said the local shops here are amazing.. I wasn't lying, and I still have a bit of a shopping addiction. I can't even tell you how many adorable small shops they have from, clothes to house wear. I probably could have spent a full day shopping, though my bank account told me that was a bad idea.

What to eat

So, brunch here is a big thing, and I am not mad about it. Specifically bottomless brunch! Karkalla Byron Bay, Folk Byron bay, Byron Bay Hot Bread, Byron Bay Fresh. Theses are all such great places! and absolutely adorable. I swear this town was made for your instagram highlight!

Where to stay

So it is a little pricey to stay here, but you have heaps (Aussie word, means lots) of options! you can bring your tent/camper van/car and camp for about 60$ a day. or find a hostel for around the same cost per night. I think if you got a group of friends and stayed in an airbnb on the beach and had the most epic views would be incredible. Being able to be walking distance to everything would be nice, just because you need to pay for parking where where you go and that is totally an inconvenience.

I am sure I will be back to Byron Bay, and I certainly can't wait!

xo Nic
